Algeria is the second-largest nation inward Africa (Sudan being the largest) and is located inward northwest Africa, with the northern coastline extending by the Mediterranean. It’s edged on the due east by Tunisia and Libya, on the southeast and south by Republic of Niger, on the south and south west by Mali, on the west by Mauritania and on the west north-west by Morocco. The country is largely Muslim.  Algeria is independent and boasts of a rich culture and a involving history.

Geography

The northern latitude chains of mountains of the Saharan Tell or Maritime Atlas, consisting coastal massifs and inland ranges, and the Saharan Atlas split up Algeria into 3 lengthwise partitions extending generally East west: the Mediterranean zone; the high plateaus; and the Sahara which covers some 85% of the entire area. About fractional of Algeria is 914 m (3,000 ft) or more preceding sea level, and about 70% of the area is from 762 m (2,500ft) to 1675m (5,500 ft) in elevation. The lowest point is Chott Melrhir -40m and the highest Tahat at 3,003m.

But the primary rivers of the Tell bear water system entirely year-around, and even out the summer flow is small. None of the rivers are passable.

The cragged areas of the High Plateaus are badly irrigated; most of the rivers and streams flow irregularly, since they depend an temperamental rain for H2O. In the High tablelands dwell many salt marshes and dry or shoal lakes. Further south, the land becomes more and more arid, merging into the altogether dry Sahara desert.

Climate

Algeria experiences an extremely hot climate. Humid at the coats and dry the further inland you travel. Although the climate on the coast is mild, the winters in the mountainous areas can be incredibly severe.
