Savuti Camp in Botswana is located in the Linyanti Reserve next to the Savuti Channel in northern Botswana. The lodge camp is positioned onlu17 km from the source of the mystifying Savuti channel which is habitually dry (as presently) however sometimes, inexplicably, flows.  Savuti is a perfect place to enjoy a night on safaris in Botswana. It boasts a tranquil atmosphere, and with the waterhole so close to the camp, it gives you the opportunity to see a lot of Botswana’s wildlife.
The Savuti Channel route starts in the Zibadianja Lagoon, south of the Linyanti Swamps. Years before when it flowed, it meandered first south and then eastwards until it joined the national park about 35km away. Overall is it offers superb game viewing especially during the wet season months with good concentrations of plains animals.

great diversity of overall game. It offers one of Africa’s most exhilarating wildlife safari experiences. It extends up to 125,000 hectares of prime wildlife country lying between the Chobe and Okavango vicinities. The reserve is comparable twice South Africa’s Sabi Sands Game Reserve in size. The large concentration of elephants are the reserve’s major attractions .Several thousand elephants roam around the waterholes and waterways especially in the winter months when they are forced to gather there for water especially after it has rained. Other animals common in Linyanti Game Reserve are the Red Lechwe, Zebra, Wildebeest, Impala, Waterbuck, Sable, Roan, Eland, Giraffe, Baboon, Monkey, Warthog, Crocodile and Buffaloes. Then there are the predators Lion, Leopard, Cheetah, Wild Dog and Hyena.
In plenty also are the Birds. Birding is wonderful in Linyanti game reserve. Some of the common bird species found here include the Slaty Egret, Whiterumped Babblers and Wattled Cranes and the bushveld species.
Savuti Early Bushmen
The early hunter-gatherers undoubtedly had settlements here, evidenced by sites in the hills around Savuti with rock art. Archaeologists connect these paintings with those in the Tsodilo Hills, and with the traditions of people of the Okavango. These sites are known to some of the guides at the lodges, and if you are accommodated here then request for your guide to show them to you. Not only is exploring on foot against the park’s rules, but the concentration of lion and elephant population here is enormous that it’s dangerous for the inexperienced.
