Equatorial Guinea comprises of two major land territories i.e.: the Continental Region (Río Muni) with three small offshore islands of Corisco, Elobey Grande and Elobey Chico; and an insular region composed of the Annobón and Bioko islands (formerly Fernando Po). The country’s capital is Malabo and is located on Bioko islands of the insular region.
Equatorial Guinea is equally bordered by Cameroon on the north, Gabon on the south and east, and the Gulf of Guinea on the west, where the island nation of São Tomé and Príncipe is located between Bioko and Annobón.
With a population of 1,014,999, Equatorial Guinea is considered one of the most prosperous African Countries. Spanish is the official language.
Despite its name, no part of Equatorial Guinea’s territory lies on the equator. The whole country lies within the Atlantic Equatorial coastal forests ecoregion except for patches of Central African mangroves on the coast, especially in the Muni River estuary. It has a luscious vegetation and picturesque scenery of dense tropical forests and snow-capped volcanoes offering attractive spot for safaris and nature walks.

The white-sand beaches around the islands are astonishing destinations for Equatorial Guinea holidays. No wonder the country was first of all named ‘Formosa’, meaning ‘beautiful’, by the Portuguese.
