Commissioned on 13 July1963, Samburu Lodge is set in a stunning rugged landscape with a backdrop of jagged mountains and its own indigenous wildlife unique to the northern region of Samburu National Reserve. The amazing thing about the lodge is its location exclusively in the bushes / jungles of Samburu National Reserve that offers a perfect retreat for enthusiastic wildlife travelers. It gives guests a taste of the romance of the complete African wildlife experience in Kenya.
The tranquil and intimate lodge is beautifully nestled on the western banks of the Uaso Nyiro River on 10 acres of pristine riverine forest and boasts a spectacular view of the reserve it looks out over riverbanks where herds of elephant, buffalo and zebra come daily to quench. The lodge setting is well blended with the natural surrounding with a profusion of bird and small animals in the grounds .All the 61cottages, rooms and suites are decorated using the finest materials and fabrics. One of the highlights of the evenings at the lodge is watching crocodiles come out of the river at the famous Crocodile Bar.
Guests are offered a time-honored hospitality and the mouth watering cuisine prepared by the team of chefs. Opposite the river is the open-sided Dining Room which allows guest to enjoy sights and sounds of the river as they dine.
All accommodations have en suite bathrooms, some with baths, and all have private balconies overlooking the river. 3 DAY SAMBURU SAFARI
Day One: Arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport
You will be received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, where you will be received by your tour guide to lead you to Samburu Lodge for the night.
Day Two:  Full Day Game Viewing in Samburu
After breakfast, depart for Samburu National Reserve, the semi arid region of the nomadic Samburu people. Game drive after lunch allows viewing of the rare local species of Zebra and Giraffe.  Overnight at Samburu Lodge
Day Three: Samburu Game Viewing and Birding
Full day game viewing drives in this dry semi-arid park with its striking background view of the Mathew’s Range. The gently flowing Uaso Nyiro River which traverses this Park provides evergreen vegetation for the rare gerenuk, Grevy’s Zebra, Gerenuk and the Reticulated Giraffe found in this park. Transfer Back to Nairobi
After breakfast, drive back to Nairobi for about 360 km (5 hrs, 30 min.) for your departure flight.
