Tortilis Camp
Named after the Tortilis Acacia (the Umbrella Thorn Tree), Tortilis Camp is a charming rustic tented camp situated in the Acacia forest facing the foothills of Africa’s highest mountain and majestic Mount Kilimanjaro.
Set on the edge of the Park Amboseli National Park, the Camp provides an unsurprisingly natural set of ambience to reside and enjoy the wildlife exploration to great extent. Tortilis Camp recently was accorded a prestigious eco-tourism award from British Airways in recognition for its eco-friendly collaboration with the local Masai people and environmental awareness programmes. Majestic Tortilis Camp
Description
Tortilis features seventeen en-suite deluxe camps and the 2-bed roomed home for family unit nestled on a gentle slope at the edge of the Park. All of them are richly furnished utilizing localized stuffs with thatch roofs and private verandas.
Each tent is elevated on a wooden deck and sheltered by a thatched roof overhanging a large veranda, ideal for an early afternoon siesta and spectacular view of Mount Kilimanjaro. The tents have been designed for comfort with traditional safari chairs, chests and beds, with private bathroom, hot water and electricity supplied by solar panels.
The dinning room and the bar offer a good view of animals at a nearby waterhole. The camp has been kept small to ensure that each guest receives high quality and personalized services.
Management at this safari camp that takes pride in excellent services offered including serving exceptional Italian cuisine, much of which is grown organically in its own garden. Flavored bush meals are also prepared.

Getting There
By Road, it is about 260km, taking about four and half hours drive. There are daily schedule flights from Nairobi and Mombasa. Amboseli airstrip is a 45 minute drive to the Camp.

- Guided Game Walks – There is an opportunity for a guided game walk in the 20,000-acre private sanctuary in company of a local Masai guide, whose life-long experience and knowledge is often shared. For those feeling energetic, a guided safari walk is a great way to experience Amboseli.
- Camping Safaris – Situated in the vicinity of Amboseli Park, camping at Tortilis will get you a closer glimpse of some of the biggest Elephants in Africa
- Exciting Game Drives – If you are a wildlife enthusiast and actually willing to explore the African wilderness at its raw, Tortilis Camp could simply be the best option. Guided game drives take you around the 20,000 acre ranch and Amboseli National Park. The Park is renowned for the ease with which wildlife lovers can spot wild animals. The short grass plains in Amboseli are popular with predators and prey. The plains boast large herds of buffalo and gazelle, closely monitored by the prides of lions.
