Beaches - The natural beauty of the Moroccan coast is definitely worth seeing. Museums – Throughout Morocco, there is a wide choice of museums. Going to the museum in Morocco is a way of discovering their history and birth. Among several museums in the country include; Museum of Antiquities and Ethnographic Museum in Tetouan; Museum of Moroccan Art- which houses on-display unique collections of glass objects, manuscripts, exquisite carpets, jewelry, pottery and ancient manuscripts. Popular outdoor festivals also abound with performances held at the Marrakech Popular Arts Festival and the Amazigh Theatre Festival in Casablanca.
Asilah – Believed to have initially been constructed by the Phoenicians as a trade post in the 1950s and serving as home to a procession of conquerors thereafter and even to pirates at one time in its history, the seaside resort of Asilah boasts well preserved gates and ramparts as a reminder of its remarkable past.
El Bahia Palace – Located in Marrakech, this richly adorned building is a superb example of 19th century Eastern Architecture. Believed to have been built as a home for Ahmed Bin Moussa’s concubines, the palace features 160 different rooms including lavishly decorated private quarters, reception rooms and courtyards with fountains and gardens.
Boulaouane Kasbah – This majestic Kasbah located south of the city of Casablanca was built as a fortress overlooking the Wadi Oum er-Rbia River in 1710. Its interior is a treasure trove of beautifully detailed mosaic designs and other decorations. Tourists to Kasbah get rewarded with an awe-inspiring view of the surrounding area.
Citadel of Chellah Gardens – Located in the capital Rabat, the Chellah Gardens are skillfully landscaped to display amazing flowers which come into bloom in the spring season creating a richly colored palette. The gardens have skillfully crafted door adorned with Arabesque calligraphy with Roman ruins and elaborate tombstones.
Mohamed V Mausoleum – This architectural and historical site is the final resting place for King Mohamed V. Tourists appreciate the architectural skills in the decoration of this mausoleum in Rabat which took close to 9 years for a workforce of about 350 men to complete.
Mountains – Morocco is extensively mountainous. It’s a land that takes great pride in its scenic beauty with unforgettable mountain ranges that are both fascinating to visit and intriguing to explore. This memorable Moroccan landscape is framed by impressive scenery such as the Atlas – located mainly in the center and the south of the country; is the biggest mountain range in North Africa; the Chefchaouen Mountains and the Oregano Mountains – here you can ski; mountain bike, hike and horse ride. Saadian Tombs – The Saadian Tombs that date back in the 1500s are situated just outside Marrakech. They are the burial ground for Sultan Ahmed el Mansour (in 1603) plus over 200 members of the Saadian dynasty. These tombs were sealed and remained sealed until their discovery by General Hubert Lyautey in 1917. They are highly significant in the history of Morocco.
Friouato Caves – The Friouato Caves is the largest known cave system in Northern Africa and lie near the town of Taza. They have several large chambers with stalactites, stalagmites and breath-taking rock formations.
Menara Grounds – Menara Grounds built in the early 1100 yrs is located in Marrakech is like an oasis in the busy city. The gardens feature orchards of palm trees, fruit trees and olive trees, as well as irrigation canals and an artificial lake. The pavilion overlooking the lake offers a beautiful view of the gardens and the snowcapped Atlas Mountains in the distance.
Mamora Forest – The Mamora Forest located in Rabat has gigantic cork trees along with pine groves, wild pear trees and eucalyptus trees. The forest also shelters a variety of wildlife.
Wildlife Parks - Morocco is known for its wildlife biodiversity. With over 210 species of bird and 105 species of mammal, the Wildlife Parks in Morocco are truly a nature lovers’ hub. They are habitant to exotic animals such as the red fox, more common – the flamingos plus 29 endangered species. Birdlife is also prolific. The avifauna of Morocco includes a total of 454 species, of which five have been introduced by humans, and 156 are rare or accidental.
Other attractions, such as the Dakar Rally, are world-famous for their dangerous appeal. Of course there is also a wide selection of mosques and churches, where visitors can find people still engaged in daily worship, and a range of palaces and historical markets that are just a wonder to see.
