Mozambique offers a tropical paradise ideal for a relaxed travel experiences. Endless white beaches and clear blue seas with a multitude of marine life go hand in hand with a lively culture and friendly nation.
This country Indian Ocean coast Southern Africa country is bordered by South Africa to the south, Tanzania to the north and has inland borders with Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Swaziland. Mozambique’s eastern coastline along the Indian Ocean is more than 1,000 km long, an incredible hub for scuba divers, fishermen, sailors and beach lovers.
Large concentrations of the population are along the coast and in the fertile and relatively productive river valleys, notably in Zambezi and Gaza provinces.
The country’s capital city is Maputo and is located in the south, just a stone throw from neighbours South Africa.

It is comprises of generally a low-lying plateau, rising toward the west to a plateau ranging from 500 to 2,000 ft above sea level and on the western border to a higher plateau (6,000 to 8,000 ft), with mountains in the north reaching a height of over 8,000 ft. Its land area stretches for 2,470 km along Africa’s southeast coast; broken up by 25 sizable rivers that flow into the Indian Ocean. The highest mountains are Namuli (7,936 ft), Binga (7,992 ft) on the Zimbabwean border and Serra Zuira (7,306 ft) in Sofala Province. The most vital water body is the crossable Lake Niassa. The Zambezi is the largest and most important of the 25 major rivers flowing through Mozambique into the Indian Ocean.
Mozambique, a former Portuguese colony and once a premier destination for wealthy European tourists, boasts rich variety wildlife with several exceptional and reserves to glance rare bird species, African big game and plentiful marine life. Tourists flock to hot spots such as Tofu, Vilankulos and the Bazaruto islands.

weather – When to go
Mozambique climate varies according to area. Along the coast, it experiences a warm, tropical climate. Evenings are rarely cold, except for a few nights in June and July and the rainfall isn’t too high. For most part of the year, temperatures are around the 28°C mark – typically higher in the north, around Pemba, and around the Zambezi. During this time, you have no threat of rain washing-away your Mozambique travel schedules.
But in general, the country has a tropical climate. Tropical lightweights with warmer clothing for evenings are recommended.
Getting there

The road network is fairly good that the country to links to its neighbouring countries with the exception of Tanzania. Standard bus operators are available from Maputo to Johannesburg, plus efficient bus routes to other South African cities. Minibuses run between Maputo and towns in Swaziland, up to the border at Namaacha. Luxury coaches leave daily from Maputo to Beira. For ease during your inland tours, you will have to consult your tour operator while make your tour arrangements.
