Khartoum is the capital of Sudan. It is situated at the confluence of the White Nile flowing north from Lake Victoria, and the Blue Nile flowing west from Ethiopia. Climate of Khartoum
Between February and November, the average maximum temperature in the city is more than 100 degrees F. The summer season in Khartoum is March to June. However, May is the hottest month of the year. Autumn in Khartoum falls from mid-July to September. This is also when the city experiences the most sandstorms of any part in the year. The winter period in Khartoum is from October through to March and is characterized by low rainfall with temperature averaging at 75 degrees F.
City Transportation / Getting Around

Khartoum is both easy and difficult to get around. It is easy in that much of the city is laid out on a grid, with long straight roads and the airport and Nile as easy reference places. It is difficult in that the city is very spread out, making walking a long and tiring option.
Road Travel

There are taxis in three categories; bright yellow cabs; small 6-seater minivans and the modern comfortable air conditioned metered cabs. Apart from metered taxis, there are Minibuses offering relatively cheaper ways to get around Khartoum especially between the three cities. Most minibuses leave from the square near the Great Mosque (Mesjid al-Kabir) or nearby in Khartoum proper. Car hire is also available although they are relatively pricey, going for 150 SDG per day for a Corolla, and 300 SDG.

Most international flights to Sudan and direct flights to Khartoum touch down at Khartoum Int’l Airport.
