Travel Tourism | the Thrilling Resource in Western Uganda.

Tourism resource is anything that the tourism fraternity attaches value to. Tourism in Western Uganda clings mainly in the districts of Kabale, Mbarara, Kisoro and Kasese. Kabale is naturally blessed with beautiful highlands, hills which enhance hill climbing and sight seeing. The famous Lake Bunyonyi culturally meaning a place of many small birds enhances sightseeing, boating and canoeing, wind surfing activities.

In kasese, lies the Great Queen Elizabeth National Park formerly known as Kazinga National Park and later named Queen Elizabeth after the visit of Queen Elizabeth in 1952 has a reputable image as an important bird area enhancing bird watching due to presence of a number of birds such as the Turacos, Billed Stock and King Fishers.

The Great crater of Katwe is a natural salt reserve where salt mining is the basic economic activity to the Batwa and two places representing all the tribes of Uganda from the ethnic groups of Bantu, Nilotics, Hamates and Nile-Hamates are all employed at the Katwe salt works.

Mt. Rwenzori is outstanding due to its endowment with snow attracting tourists for scenic view. It also endowed with unique flora such as the Giant Lobelia. The mountain further enhances mountaineering. Fauna include Uganda Kobs, Hyenas and Elephants enhancing game viewing.

Western Uganda is endowed with water bodies such as the Albert, George and Kyoga. Albertine region lying in the western arm of the East African Rift Valley is an important area endowed with fish such as the tiger fish, enhances sporting activities such sports fishing, canoeing, boating and scenic views.

In Bundibugyo lies the great Sempaya hot springs which enhances steam bathing travel for medication and the spring is both masculine and famine believed to cure skin diseases such as measles, skin rush due to it content of hydrogen sulphides. The Park has many primates like the red tailed monkeys, black and white monkeys which enhance game viewing. Vegetation in form of forests like Kibale forest enhances primates’ walks to view the primates like black monkeys, red tailed monkeys. Unique flora such as the naked Adam tree in the Kabale forest enhances nature walks and nature photography.

Parks are abundant but the most significant one being Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda endowed with the mountain Gorillas with silver backs. These resources enhance gorilla tracking with a maximum of six visitors in a day.

In Fort Portal lie the great three volcanic craters of Nyabikere, Nyabisrke and Saka situated on three hills enhancing scene views as well as hill climbing. In the same place lie the great Amabere (Ganyinamwiru) meaning the breasts of legend princess Nyinamwiru of Tooro. These stalactites and stalagmites enclosed in a cave are beautified by the presence of the fall enhancing nature walks and scenic views- what a lovely place.

Religious attractions include the Kanungu-cult place in Fort Portal a place with a mass grave where the followers under the leadership of Kibwetere were murdered in three ways like burying one alive, acidifying and burning, and poisoning their drinks.

The Katuna border separating Kabale from reputing of Rwanda is an attraction carrying out activities of customers and clearing place for travelers leaving Uganda for Rwanda and vice versa.

Travel to Western Uganda and you will not regret appreciating its God- given the beauty in Parks, Forests, craters, mountains and hot springs.
