Gorilla Tracking Tour
Bwindi’s Impenetrable Forest is ‘Tarzan’s Jungle’ and it is mysterious and awesome!. It is filled with dense undergrowth; vines and other vegetation make it almost ‘impenetrable’. This is one of Africa’s richest ecosystems and at least 120 species of mammal are found here including mountain gorillas, chimpanzee and 8 other species of primate. There are elephant, bush pig, giant forest hog, many species of bats and rodents and at least 346 species of birds including rare forest birds. The numbers go on and on … 27 species of frogs and toads, 6 chameleons at least 202 species of butterfly.
Gorilla Safari and Uganda Tours
An early morning trek into the forest on the slopes of the volcanoes, led by experienced trackers you have an excellent chance of spending time with a family of Mountain Gorillas. These massive primates are extremely rare, only approximately 600 remain and to date none have been bred in captivity. Mountain Gorillas are wild animals, as such sightings cannot be guaranteed, however the success rate is well over 90%.
The trekking may be fairly strenuous; up to six hours or longer is not uncommon – at relatively high altitude. Returning to the camp for a late lunch, we have an opportunity for forest walks with the guides, or just to relax.
