This is a landlocked country situated in the geographical heart of the Great Lakes Region of East Africa. It is bound to the by Kenya to the east, Sudan in the north, Rwanda in the southwest and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the west and to the south by Tanzania.
The southern part of the country includes a substantial portion of Lake Victoria, which is also bordered by Kenya and Tanzania.
Coined the “Pearl of Africa” by Winston Churchill, Uganda’s beautiful scenery, mountains and wildlife contribute to its picturesque reputation. UGANDA IS A SINGLE COUNTRY, BUT TOURING IT IS NOT A SINGLE EXPERIENCE. The country offers a multitude of tourist attractions to its visitors. The source of the Nile is here. It has vast Game Reserves where it’s possible to get close up to the “Big Five”, National Parks, trekking opportunities and the possibility of sighting the highly endangered mountain gorilla.

That Uganda still exists today, and now it’s your turn to visit one of the most colorful places in East Africa. Although landlocked, boasts several in land water bodies including lakes Victoria, Kyoga, Albert, Edward and the smaller Lake George.
The boasts a deep rooted cultural melting pot evidenced by the 30-plus different indigenous languages spoken belonging to five distinct linguistic groups, and an equally diverse cultural mosaic of music, art and handicrafts. Swahili is also spoken extensively in some parts of the country.

Kampala – Capital
Kampala is the largest city and capital of Uganda. It is set among hills with fine modern architecture, tree-lined avenues, cathedrals, mosques and palaces of the old Kingdom of Buganda, other sights include the Uganda Museum and the Buganda Royal Tombs – a World Heritage Site at Kasubi. The city is divided into 5 political divisions that oversee local administration; the Central, Kawempe, Makindye, Nakawa and Rubaga. Entebbe International Airport (EBB) is the principal International Airport. It is located in the municipality of Entebbe near the town, on the shores of Lake Victoria about 35 km from the capital.

Best Time to Travel

Uganda can be visited at any time, though mountain treks, gorilla tracking and other forest walks are more challenging during the rains, which generally peak over mid-September to November and March to May. Rainy season is no reason to postpone your travel however, as generally it rains for an hour or two and the rest of the day is clear and sunny. Travel tours in Uganda are extremely weather dependent that you need to plan well in advance to avoid harsh weather conditions.
Getting There

There are connections with all neighbouring countries, although borders are not always open. However, travellers should take local advice before crossing the border with Rwanda, and should not attempt to cross the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Entebbe International Airport
, which lies 40km from the capital Kampala, is serviced by a number of international airlines, including SN Brussels, British Airways, South African Airways, Kenya Airways, Air Tanzania, Rwandair Express, Egypt Air and Ethiopian Airlines. Uganda can also be reached by road from Kenya, Rwanda and Tanzania.
Getting Around

Most major towns have good access routes and airstrips, as do most Wildlife Parks and Game Reserves. Charter flights are available with small aviation companies and can be privately arranged on request for private adventure holidays. You’ll love it in Uganda – as the country has its head high in the clouds.
